Sparks' Cameron Brink delivered a statement performance in Lynx upset

The Minnesota Lynx's 10-game winning streak is no more.

Cameron Brink, Rae Burrell and the Los Angeles Sparks stormed into Target Center and left with an 89-82 win on Thursday night for only their second win since July 13.

For Brink, this may have been more than just a victory that keeps the Sparks on the fringes of the WNBA playoff picture.

This was a statement of intent.

Brink's three-year career has been disrupted by injury and instability. The former second overall pick tore her ACL in 2024 and came back to a Sparks team that had abandoned its youth movement.

In a reserve role, Brink struggled for consistency. But with the Sparks' decision to trade Kelsey Plum to the Phoenix Mercury last weekend, Los Angeles is pivoting again -- and giving Brink a new lease on life in The W.

In only 25 minutes against the Lynx, Brink stuffed the stat sheet against the league's best team.

She scored 12 points, hauled in eight rebounds, dished out five assists and blocked three shots.

The five assists are a career high, and Brink now has blocked three shots or more in 14 separate games over her 56-game career.

The sky remains the limit for Brink if she can stay healthy and escape the foul trouble that has plagued her since she entered the league. Whether she remains a building block in Los Angeles remains to be seen, but her contribution to the upset win in Minneapolis could well spark Brink's career to a new dimension.
