Friday night marked the preseason opener for the Carolina Panthers and the Cleveland Browns, and the game started with some major fireworks. Second-year WR Xavier Legette and a Browns defender were both ejected following an on-field scuffle.
“Carolina Panthers wide receiver Xavier Legette opened the preseason Friday night with a hit that earned him a disqualification. Actually, it was multiple hits,” ESPN’s David Newton wrote. “The 2024 first-round pick appeared to land four swings on Rayshawn Jenkins of the Browns.”
Former Colorado teammates Shedeur Sanders and Jimmy Horn Jr. faced off against each other. Earlier Friday morning, their head coach Deion Sanders posted a message about opportunity—something both players could have taken to heart before the game.
“We all have needs & we all desire Opportunity! If given opportunity u may not be where u are now. Opportunity is like the dream we had when we were younger. We must be prepared for the opportunity we're praying for. The right opportunity will change your life,” Sanders posted.
Sanders was vocal about missing his former teammates.
“Jimmy definitely is missed. A lot of the Colorado players are missed. All of them have different personalities. And Jimmy, I miss seeing his [smile] when we’re at practice with his gold grillz,” Sanders said.
Famous rapper DaBaby was in attendance for the preseason opener. A Cleveland native who now lives in North Carolina, his presence was fitting. DaBaby is a big supporter of Deion Sanders and the Colorado team. Although he wanted to rep a Jimmy Horn Jr. jersey, he had to settle for a Jaycee Horn one instead.
“Charlotte’s own DaBaby is here for tonight’s preseason Panthers game. Said he wanted a Jimmy Horn Jr. jersey to support Coach Prime… but ended up with a Jaycee Horn jersey instead,” WCNC’s Danielle Stein posted.

DaBaby found a way to make it work, but he was eager to support the Colorado players. With Deion Sanders making waves as head coach, celebrities are rallying behind the university. Due to Horn being on the roster bubble, his jersey isn’t available yet—but after a strong preseason, maybe DaBaby will be able to sport a Jimmy Horn Jr. jersey next time he attends a game.
