Former LSU star wide receiver Kyren Lacy tragically died on April 12. His death occurred after he got in an argument with a family member, which resulted in him shooting a gun into the ground before fleeing the scene. He then crashed his car and was found dead in his car with a gunshot wound in an apparent suicide.
This death hit the college football world hard, along with Lacy's family. On Saturday, Kyren Lacy's mother, Kandace Faye, posted on Instagram, revealing that someone had taken a diamond chain from his car. She is working with the police to find the culprit.
"Kyren’s chain was stolen out of his car either the night of the accident or the days following," Faye wrote. "I am currently working with Houston police to find out who took his chain out of his car."•
Lacy died a few weeks before he was set to take part in the 2025 NFL draft. He was coming off the best season of his college career, registering 58 receptions for 866 yards and nine TDs with the LSU Tigers in 2024.
Kyren Lacy's parents mourn his death on social media
In the aftermath of Kyren Lacy's death, his parents have shared their feelings on social media. The day after his death, Lacy's father, Kenny, told other parents to talk to their kids about confiding in them at a young age on Facebook:
"Young parents, start talking to your kids at a very early age and make sure they are confident and comfortable confiding in you. Don't be cool with "I'm Alright,or I'm good" when you know deep down something isn't right. Mental Health is real, and for the most part, it's invisible, don't ignore the signs, even if they may seem small."Kandace Faye posted on Instagram at the end of May about the pain she is feeling:
"This pain is unbearable! Jesus!! I miss my baby so much!! EVERYTHING reminds me of you! I love you son!! If I had my way, I would have never shared you with the world!!"Lacy's death occurred two days before he was scheduled to attend a hearing for his involvement in a December 2024 car crash.
