The Chicago Cubs won a wild 8-7 game over the Philadelphia Phillies in 10 innings on Thursday.

After the game, they swung a trade with the Colorado Rockies.

ESPN's Jesse Rogers reported that the Cubs are getting Nicky Lopez in a deal from the Rockies for cash considerations.

Lopez is a 31-year old utility infielder who has played in 686 MLB games.

He's a career .245 hitter, and he did play 14 games with the Cubs last season.

Lopez has appeared for the Royals, White Sox, Braves, Angels and Cubs.

He actually hasn't played yet in the major leagues this season, but he's capable of playing second base, third base and shortstop.

Lopez was a fifth-round pick by the Royals in the 2016 MLB Draft out of Creighton.

A decade later, he returns to the Windy City.

He has spent this season at Triple-A Albuquerque, having played 15 games down in the Pacific Coast League. He's hitting .333 with five doubles, one triple, one home run, eight RBI and two stolen bases.

Lopez is one of those guys who you know what you're getting when you put him in the lineup. He doesn't have upside at this point, but he's a safe acquisition.

It could mean Scott Kingery's roster spot is in danger, but that hasn't been made official yet in any way.
