Anthony Rizzo is just hanging out in free agency.
The Chicago Cubs legend, most recently a New York Yankees first baseman, hasn't been signed by anyone for the 2025 MLB season.
And the longer this goes on, the more thoughts of a potential retirement will arise.
NHL Hall of Famer Chris Chelios, of all people, alluded to such an outcome on Sunday.
Chelios sang "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" at Wrigley Field, and he decided to lead the crowd in chants of "Rizzo, Rizzo!"
“To Anthony Rizzo and his family, if he is retiring, this one’s going out- let’s hear it," Chelios said.

It's a bit of an odd move for the Chicago native to make unless he knows something we all don't.
It wouldn't be shocking at this point to see Rizzo retire, though.
Rizzo hit just .228 a year ago and is clearly a shell of his former self.

Maybe he could still be signed if an injury or two creates an opening somewhere, but it seems like most teams must have no interest.
If Rizzo retires, he goes down as a Cubs legend. He caught the last out of their curse-breaking World Series in 2016 as one of the best players Chicago has seen this generation.
Whether Chelios knows what he's talking about or not, we'll just have to see.
