Crystal Palace take on Manchester City in a Premier League game at Selhurst Park this Sunday.
Crystal Palace are currently sitting in 4th place, a massive surprise considering projections for them coming into the campaign. Manchester City, meanwhile, are in 2nd and could even top the table with a win here, depending on other results.
So can Pep Guardiola's men come away with the win, or will Palace produce another stirring performance?
Crystal Palace vs Manchester City Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
- Crystal Palace have only beaten Manchester City in one of their most recent six meetings, but that win was a big one as it came in the FA Cup final back in May, giving Palace their first major trophy.
- Crystal Palace are coming into this match on a strong run of three wins in a row in all competitions. This week saw them easily brush aside Shelbourne in the UEFA Conference League, following a late victory over Fulham last weekend.
- It's fair to say that Manchester City's European win this week was a little bigger than Palace's. They defeated Real Madrid 1-2 in a Champions League clash at the Santiago Bernabeu, extending their current winning streak to four matches overall.
- While Crystal Palace have scored the fewest goals of any side in the current top six - 20 - they can boast the second-tightest defence in the Premier League right now. Oliver Glasner's side have only conceded 12 thus far, with only Arsenal having conceded fewer.
- Three of Manchester City's four losses this season have come in away matches, as they were beaten by Brighton, Aston Villa and Newcastle. In fact, their away record overall is patchy to say the least, as they've only won three of their seven matches on the road thus far.
Crystal Palace vs Manchester City Prediction
This match is one of the weekend's most intriguing, as it pits two of the Premier League's form sides against each other. Moreover, it also sees one of the best defences in Palace come up against the league's top scorers in City.
It is tempting to pick Pep Guardiola's team to come away with a win here, particularly because Crystal Palace will have less rest having played on Thursday and they have a thin squad anyway.
However, breaking down their defence will be very difficult, and moreover, Oliver Glasner was able to rest some key players on Thursday, with Adam Wharton only playing a half while Jean-Philippe Mateta sat out entirely.
With that considered, then, the prediction here is a score draw.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-2 Manchester City
