Parris Campbell has decided to hang up his cleats.

The former Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver was placed on the reserve/retired list by the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday. That sends the 28-year old WR into retirement after seven NFL seasons.

Campbell spent the 2025 season on the Dallas practice squad and made it into one regular season game.

He was originally a second-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts (59th overall) in the 2019 NFL Draft. He had previously starred at OSU and in high school at LeBron James' alma mater, St. Vincent-St. Mary in Akron, Ohio.

Campbell had three quiet seasons to begin his Colts career as persistent injuries prevented him from reaching his full potential. From 2019 through 2021, he had 34 catches in 15 games.

He broke out in 2022 as he didn't miss a single game and caught 63 passes for 623 yards and three touchdowns.

That was his final year with the Colts before he played for the New York Giants in 2023 and had 20 catches for 104 yards.

Campbell then joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024, and he won a Super Bowl ring there. He made six catches for 30 yards in the regular season, then appeared in three postseason games but didn't have a playoff catch.

The Cowboys brought Campbell aboard for 2025 but he couldn't really break into the picture.

He remained with Dallas this offseason but has now evidently chosen to step away from the game before turning 29 this summer.

Campbell never quite became the player some thought he might, but he dealt with a lot of injuries from the outset that made things tougher on him. He persisted and stuck around, and he ends his career with 123 catches for 1,117 yards in 50 NFL games to go along with a Super Bowl ring.
