The Dallas Cowboys lost a key position in the modern NFL during free agency.
Slot cornerback Jourdan Lewis left to sign with the Jaguars.
And now, the Cowboys are moving one of their top defenders to get reps in the slot.
DaRon Bland is seeing OTA snaps in the slot, according to Cowboys beat reporter Calvin Watkins.
Watkins writes, "Bland said he prefers to play outside but is cool with everything."
Bland has been an All-Pro cornerback on the boundary.
Playing in the slot is quite different, but Bland likely has the skillset to translate to the new position if he needs to.

Bland did play some snaps in the slot last season, but his whole year was a struggle after a training camp injury led to him playing just seven games.
Two seasons ago, Bland led the NFL with nine interceptions. He had five the year before that, but didn't make any in 2024.
Dallas will be happy if Bland can stay healthy and start taking the ball away again. Whether it's on the inside or the outside is less key than the fact that Bland is out there at all.
