The Dallas Cowboys recently pulled off a successful trade with the San Francisco 49ers.
Turns out, the deal was even more of a win for the Cowboys than some might have initially thought.
The trade is the one that sent defensive lineman Osa Odighizuwa to the 49ers for a third-round pick, which is No. 92 overall.
ESPN's Todd Archer reports that the 49ers were previously offering much less than a third-rounder, but that the Cowboys got them to raise the price.
"The 49ers initially thought the Cowboys were willing to trade Odighizuwa for money purposes and were offering a Day 3 pick in return," Archer writes. "When they were informed the Cowboys were willing to keep Odighizuwa, the Niners gave up the No. 92 pick. As a result, the Cowboys had their first Day 2 pick."

Evidently, the 49ers wanted Odighizuwa enough to make the increased price worthwhile.
But for the Cowboys, it proved a good example of sticking to a desired return and making it happen. They'll have a chance to get a quality player with that 92nd selection.
It wasn't the Cowboys' only trade, either. They went in reverse to acquire a hefty contract when they got pass rusher Rashan Gary from the Green Bay Packers.
Dallas isn't one of the league's more active teams in free agency, and that remains true this offseason.
But through the Odighizuwa trade's asset acquiring, and the Gary trade's talent acquiring, the Cowboys continue to try to take the right steps forward to have a better 2026 season than the one that just concluded.
