The Miami Dolphins have been overhauling their team this offseason, with several key veterans from years past being released or traded by new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan.
Recently, the surprise blockbuster trade of Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos, which landed a first-round pick and a third-round pick in exchange for Waddle and a fourth-round swap, has opened the door further to a full-scale teardown.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Dolphins, fielding strong interest in running back De'Von Achane, have made a decision on his availability. Despite plenty of interest, Achane does not look poised to leave Miami like Waddle did this offseason.
Dolphins make trade decision on De'Von Achane
"Sources: Teams that have called the Miami Dolphins to inquire about trading for Pro-Bowl RB De'Von Achane have been told that he is not available," Schefter reports.
After they traded Waddle and the release of veterans like Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, and Bradley Chubb, no one would bat an eye if Achane, heading into the final year of his rookie deal, were traded.
But that's not the Dolphins' plan with their speedy Pro Bowl running back. With Malik Willis signed for the next three years, the Dolphins still want to have some weapons at his disposal.
And while Waddle would've been a great target for Willis, the offer from the Broncos is a hard one to refuse. Achane, a running back, most likely won't land the Dolphins a strong return in a trade.

Instead of trading Achane, coming off a 1,350 rushing-yard season with eight touchdowns and an NFL-best 5.7 yards-per-attempt, the Dolphins are electing to keep him.
Even though Achane is a running back, he can still be a massive part of the receiving game for Willis. Last season, he caught 67 of 85 targets for 488 yards and four touchdowns. The year prior, he caught 78 of 87 targets for 592 yards and six touchdowns.
The Dolphins will need to find a way to extend Achane. Although it won't be cheap, Achane, an explosive dual-threat running back, is not easy to find in the NFL.
Sullivan and the Dolphins are keeping Achane, telling teams the speedy running back is not available this offseason despite a full-scale teardown of the roster.
