The Dallas Cowboys have added an edge rusher this offseason after the trade with the Green Bay Packers for Rashan Gary, but they might not be done.
According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Cowboys "have kept tabs on" star free-agent pass rusher Trey Hendrickson.
Along with Dallas, the Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts are also believed to be in on Hendrickson. Breer also considers the Baltimore Ravens as a possibility after the nixed Maxx Crosby trade.
"All eyes are on the Ravens' next move — and how hard they go after Bengals pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson," Breer reported. "The Colts have kept tabs on him, as have the Eagles and Cowboys. Baltimore quickly pivoting to Hendrickson would only bolster suspicions some teams have."
The Ravens nixing the Crosby trade due to a failed physical would seem to re-open the door for the Cowboys to pull off a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders for the star edge rusher, but it appears that is not in the cards at the moment.
That comes from both several reporters, including The Athletic's Dianna Russini and NFL Network's Jane Slater.
"The Dallas Cowboys are not expected to re-engage in Maxx Crosby trade discussions at this time, a high-ranking source tells The Athletic," Russini said.
"Can confirm. A team source tells me 'we moved on with Rashan Gary, etc,' Slater said in response to Russini's report.
The Cowboys reportedly offered the Raiders a first-round pick, a second-round pick and a player, but the Raiders ultimately took the Ravens' offer of two first-round picks.
Perhaps the Cowboys could change their stance and still explore a trade for Crosby, but it remains to be seen if they'd be willing to offer the same package after what transpired on Tuesday night.
Instead, the Cowboys might be interested in getting him at a reduced cost, but Breer reports the Raiders are unlikely to be amenable to that.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is also reporting Crosby is now open to playing with the Raiders in 2026.
According to CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones, Hendrickson is seeking a deal that pays him around $35 million per year, but teams Jones has spoken to say there is about a $10 million difference between what he wants and what teams are offering.
The Cowboys don't have a ton of money to work with after recent moves, so they will probably only be able to sign Hendrickson at a reduced rate, which based on Jones' reporting might be about $25 million per.
It shouldn't be long before we find out who lands Hendrickson, as the four-time Pro Bowler is expected to make his decision on Wednesday.
