The NFL world was stunned on Tuesday when the Dallas Cowboys pulled off a blockbuster trade with the New York Jets for Quinnen Williams.
It was shocking because the expectation was the Jets would hang on to their star defensive tackle despite rumblings that a trade was possible, however unlikely.
After the trade was completed, it was revealed that Williams had been unhappy with the Jets, and so much so that he had requested a trade multiple times.
In his first comments to the media after the trade, Williams admitted he was definitely frustrated with the Jets because of all the losing.
"I think the world knew I was frustrated being there so long and still losing. Any ultra competitor, man, any guy who plays this game to win is going to be frustrated no matter if you win 100 games and lose that one," Williams said, per ESPN's Todd Archer.
However, it wasn't all negative for Williams, who said he still believes in what head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey are doing.
“The relationship itself has never bent, never broken. I still believe in what [Aaron Glenn] is doing there is going to be great for those guys," Williams added. "And the way that Darren [Mougey] has handled everything there is going to be great.”
Nobody should be surprised that Williams was frustrated, nor can we blame him for feeling that way.
After all, Williams hasn't experienced a single winning season with the Jets, and he had to sit through the hope-turned-disaster that was the Aaron Rodgers stint.
The good news is, Williams has given a thumbs up to the Jets' head coach and general manager, who will now be tasked with a rebuild that will be aided by the slew of picks the team garnered in the Williams and Sauce Gardner trades.
