The Dallas Cowboys shocked the NFL when the team drafted Alabama guard Tyler Booker with the No. 12 pick.
The Booker pick was a bit of a reach, but the Cowboys are trying to rebuild their offensive line to the level it was in 2016 when the team went 13-3.
Dallas still has a long way to go before it can get back into the contender conversation, and it could take another high pick next season.
In a new, too-early 2026 NFL mock draft, Danny Parkins from Fox has the Cowboys at No. 10 and is drafting Ohio State's star safety, Caleb Downs.
"The Cowboys should be better than this, but I don't know about the coach. I don't know about the depth," Parkins wrote. "At some point, they're going to have a 'fall on their face' year. They'd be thrilled if the board fell like this. Caleb Downs — I don't know whether to list him at safety, cornerback or defensive back — but he might be the best player in all of college football. But because if he's going to be more of a safety, maybe the lack of premium value that's placed at that position makes him fall."

Downs played two seasons in college, his first at Alabama, before transferring to Ohio State last year, where he recorded 82 tackles and two interceptions.
Downs was named a unanimous All-American last season, the 34th player in Ohio State history to be named that honor.
In 30 career games, Downs has recorded 189 tackles, 12 for loss, and four interceptions.
The Cowboys will get a great player if they take Downs, but many fans probably wish they are nowhere near the position to take the Ohio State star, since it means the Cowboys will have a rough 2025 season.
