Cowboys eye 3 late free agents with one classic Jerry Jones move in play

After minicamp, the Cowboys still have a few obvious roster holes to address before training camp, and three free agents stand out as sensible fits-- Austin Ekeler, Joe Noteboom and Ethan Pocic.

Ekeler makes sense because Dallas still lacks a proven complementary back behind Javonte Williams. The Cowboys have younger options, but Ekeler would give Dak Prescott a reliable receiving threat out of the backfield and add experience to a room that still feels unsettled.

Noteboom is a logical fit because left tackle remains one of the biggest questions on the roster. Tyler Guyton may still be the long-term answer, but Dallas could use another veteran body with real starting experience. Noteboom would not need to lock down the job to help; he would simply give the Cowboys more stability at a position that still feels wide open heading into camp.

Pocic may be the cleanest fit of the three. Matt Hennessy’s injury left Dallas thinner on the interior offensive line than it would like, and Pocic would offer a veteran option at center or guard if the Cowboys decide they need more protection there before August.

Those are the three free-agent fits that line up best with Dallas’ remaining needs. But if there is one move that still feels like a classic Jerry Jones play, it is a reunion with Jadeveon Clowney.

Clowney led Dallas in sacks last season, and bringing him back would give the Cowboys another proven edge rusher without forcing Malachi Lawrence or Donovan Ezeiruaku into oversized roles too early. It would also fit Jones’ history of circling back to familiar veterans when the roster still needs one more boost before camp.
