Cowboys' 6-foot-1 WR leaving Dallas for one-year deal with Dolphins

The Dallas Cowboys’ roster has experienced notable changes at the start of the offseason/free agency.

That trend continued on Friday when the Cowboys' 6-foot-1 wide receiver left Dallas for a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins

“Sources: Former Cowboys WR Jalen Tolbert is signing with the Dolphins on a one-year deal,” The Schultz Report’s Jordan Schultz reported on X/Twitter.

“Tolbert is close with Malik Willis, who was his QB at the Senior Bowl when they were entering the league. The versatile WR had over 1,000 receiving yards and 10 TDs with Dallas over four seasons.”

Tolbert is a respectable NFL receiver, but he wasn’t utilized heavily in Dallas during his four-year stint. This past season, Tolbert was overshadowed by George Pickens, CeeDee Lamb, Ryan Flournoy, and Kavontae Turpin in the Cowboys’ high-powered offense attack.

Tolbert finished the year with 18 receptions for a measly 203 receiving yards and one touchdown. Still, there’s no question that the 27-year-old’s serviceability in short-yardage situations and solid hands (he only dropped one pass in 2025-26) intrigued the Dolphins enough to sign him in early-March.

For his career (four seasons), Tolbert has recorded 91 receptions for 1,093 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns as a former third-round selection.

It’ll be interesting to see what Tolbert accomplishes with the Dolphins in the AFC East moving forward.
