Cooper Flagg returning to Duke decision can still be made even after NBA Draft Lottery

Don't count on it, but Cooper Flagg could still play another year at Duke.

The NBA Draft Lottery on Monday night determined Flagg's likely destination in the league, given his status as the presumed No. 1 pick.

But he could also opt out of the draft, still, and has about two weeks to do so.

May 28 is the NCAA deadline for a player to withdraw from the draft and retain eligibility at the college level.

There's been no indication Flagg will do this, but you never know what a couple weeks of contemplation will do.

It'd be the biggest story in basketball if Flagg changed his mind at this late stage. It'd also be unprecedented.

The closest comparison would likely be in women's college hoops, which just saw presumed No. 2 pick Olivia Miles withdraw from the WNBA Draft and then transfer from Notre Dame to TCU.

But Flagg is a generational talent, the surefire No. 1 pick, and he'd rock both the NBA and NCAA basketball worlds if he backed out now.

At this point, it's just a pipe dream for the Blue Devils. But the rules would allow it.
