The Edmonton Oilers can't catch a break.

After a controversial goal put them down 3-1 in their playoff-opening series with the Anaheim Ducks, they've gotten some surprisingly bad Connor McDavid injury news.

McDavid wasn't at the Oilers' morning skate on Tuesday.

When head coach Kris Knoblauch was asked about it by reporters, he said McDavid is a game-time decision for Game 5 against the Ducks.

Elsewhere in the forward group, Jason Dickinson is also a game-time decision.

Kris Knoblauch says Connor McDavid & Jason Dickinson are game-time decisions.

Says to expect a mix of pairings on defence tonight.

There's been speculation as to McDavid being hurt, but he hasn't been discussed as a game-time decision until this point.

The Oilers clearly would be set back in a big way if the best player on the planet can't take the ice.

Their backs are already against the wall. McDavid's going to have to play to help execute a difficult rescue mission.
