All eyes will be on the Indianapolis Colts quarterback competition this season.
A pair of former first-round picks in Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones are set to battle it out for the starting role, but there's a chance the Colts will be looking to reset the position in 2026.
If neither succeeds in making a difference, it's likely the Colts will clean house and be in the market for a quarterback.
In a way-too-early prediction for the 2026 NFL Draft from Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski, the Colts land a polarizing quarterback prospect at No. 7 overall.
"A season in which the Indianapolis Colts find themselves with a top-10 pick almost ensures an organizational reset at general manager, head coach and quarterback, because it means Anthony Richardson didn't develop as expected and failed to elevate the franchise," Sobleski wrote. "The former 5-star recruit has the size and ample arm talent to lead an NFL franchise at a high level. As long as he continues to show improvement with his decision-making and overall consistency, he should easily find himself in the top-10 conversation, thus allowing the Colts to restart at the game's most important position with a more traditional option."
Allar certainly has the traits that NFL teams will look for at the quarterback position. He's listed at 6-foot-5 and 238 pounds and will be viewed more as a pocket passer given his overall profile. With that said, Allar needs to keep improving if he's going to lock himself into a premium draft capital spot.
The Penn State quarterback completed 66.5% of his passes for 3,327 yards, 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions while adding six rushing touchdowns in 2024.
If the Colts are picking inside the top 10, it's highly likely a new regime will be brought in, furthering the notion that the current decision-makers are in a make-or-break year.
