College football Week 12 predictions, odds: Three picks, best bets for Saturday’s slate

3 hours ago 3

Boise State has been a picture of consistency for a long time.

With plenty of money behind the program, the Broncos own a serious edge when it comes to recruiting, NIL opportunities, and coaching talent compared to other teams in its region.

They’ve used those off-the-field advantages to great success.

The Broncos went to the College Football Playoff in 2024, have won the last two Mountain West Championships and they’ve made eight trips to the MWC title game since 2013, which is when the league instituted a winner-take-all contest after the regular season to determine the champion.

It’s no wonder that the Broncos were an odds-on favorite to three-peat in 2025. It felt like a foregone conclusion.

But this new era of college football has taught us to expect the unexpected, and Boise State is now in serious jeopardy of missing out on its customary trip to the title game.

A loss at San Diego State on Saturday would essentially end hopes of a three-peat on the spot.

The Aztecs are also coming off a disappointing loss in Week 11, but a trip to Hawaii is always a tricky endeavor, especially with the way the Rainbow Warriors are playing this season.

San Diego State just couldn’t keep up with Micah Alejado and his high-flying offense, but a repeat performance shouldn’t be a huge concern for the Aztecs on Saturday night.

Betting on College Football?

After years of ranking among the best units in the Group of 5, Boise State’s offense has stumbled toward mediocrity this season, which should play into the hands of San Diego State.

The Aztecs boast one of the stingiest defenses in the Group of 5, and they should be able to hold the Broncos in check in this high-stakes contest.

San Diego State is the better team this season, and the Aztecs should be getting more respect from the betting market.

The Pick: San Diego State -2.5 (FanDuel)

Arkansas (+5.5) over LSU

When it’s bumping and bouncing, Tiger Stadium is one of the great spectacles in all of sports. It’s a bucket-list venue for college football fans.

Unfortunately, it will sound more akin to a library Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers are 5-4, playing out the string, and are going up against 2-7 Arkansas, another group that can’t wait for the season to end.

The Razorbacks have been competitive for most of the season, and their leaky defense should not be in peril against an LSU attack that hasn’t hit the 30-point mark against an FBS opponent in 2025.

Mississippi State (+7) vs. MISSOURI

Handicapping motivation is a tricky endeavor, but it is hard to see how Missouri is at its sharpest against a pesky Mississippi State team on Saturday in Columbia.

The Tigers were eliminated from College Football Playoff contention in a blowout loss against Texas A&M last week, and now will have to stay focused while head coach Eli Drinkwitz is connected to head coaching vacancies around the country.

The Bulldogs are just one win shy of bowl eligibility, which would be a massive step in the right direction for a team that was pegged to foot the table in the SEC this season.

LAST WEEK: 2-1. Hawaii (W), Mississippi State (L), Purdue (W).

SEASON: 22-11
