Before the College Football Playoff rankings drop in a couple months, the AP and Coaches' Polls are king each and every week.
College football's Week 2 has wrapped up, and there were plenty of ranked teams across the country that made impressions. The biggest was Texas, which capped off Saturday's slate of games with a thrilling 24-23 come-from-behind victory over the top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes.
That wasn't Saturday's only upset, however. Earlier in the day, Oregon fell to an reeling Oklahoma State team 39-31, raising serious questions about its retooled coaching staff. But while the Ducks suffered, the Pokes thrived on the back of QB Drew Mestemaker, who announced himself with authority on a national stage.
In the early window, Michigan bounced back from last week's shaky performance and knocked off John Mateer and the Oklahoma Sooners in Ann Arbor. Elsewhere, Alabama rebounded after a sloppy first half to take care of Kentucky on the road 45-17, Tennessee beat Georgia Tech on the road, Iowa claimed the CyHawk Trophy with a 16-13 win over Iowa State.
And what would a week of modern college football be without a little Lane Kiffin? LSU's head coach arrived at the stadium flanked by a pair of famous rappers before comfortably beating Virginia despite QB Sam Leavitt throwing four interceptions.
