Cody Rhodes vs Oba Femi was a dream match that opened the show at Saturday Night's Main Event. However, the match ended controversially following a major interference.

At Saturday Night's Main Event, the idea was that it would be a showcase for the up-and-coming stars of NXT (and one from TNA). Thus, the dream match between Oba Femi and Cody Rhodes was set up, as The Ruler of NXT dethroned Ricky Starks to get a shot at The American Nightmare. The crowd in Washington, D.C., went nuts for Femi, whose entrance they participated in with the tribal noises. The dominance of Femi was enough to win the crowd over.

As the match was beginning to reach its climax, it was unfortunately interrupted by the 40-year-old Drew McIntyre, who previously stated that WWE had an "unsafe working environment" and didn't show up to SmackDown yesterday. He interfered and attacked Cody Rhodes, causing a DQ. Naturally, Oba Femi was furious with what happened, and after his staredown with McIntyre took the Scotsman out of his target for a minute, Cody would attack him, setting up Femi to take McIntyre out. Despite the crowd being deflated by the finish, Cody would raise Femi's hand, and they would walk out having more respect for each other.

During the match, Wade Barrett questioned whether Cody knew what he was signing up for, and Michael Cole argued that he was fully aware of what he was signing up for when he accepted the match against the NXT Champion, whether that was Ricky Starks or Oba Femi.

Overall, it was quite an intense and interesting match-up, with very little breathing space. And we mean this in the best way possible. It was fast-paced with high intensity, and it's safe to say that the two men are bound to cross paths down the line.
