NBA free agency is just around the corner, and several players are making their final decisions on player options.

Clippers guard Bradley Beal was the latest notable player to make a decision on his player option for next season.

Clippers' Bradley Beal makes key contract decision as free agency approaches

ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Monday that Bradley Beal chose to decline his $5.6 million player option.

He will now become an unrestricted free agent and has the option to sign a short-term or long-term deal elsewhere if he chooses.

In the offseason last year, Beal agreed to a buyout on his contract with the Suns and went on to sign with the Clippers.

The Clippers' roster this past season had a lot of expectations after big transactions were made during the offseason, but the franchise didn't have a great season overall.

Beal didn't end up playing a huge role, as he played just six total games due to missing most of the season from suffering a season-ending injury.

It's unclear right now what direction Beal will look to go, but at the very least it appears he'd rather have more say in his future, than return to the Clippers on a one-year deal like he would have if he accepted the player option.
