PSG reach five-year deal for RB Leipzig wonderkid amid Liverpool links

2 hours ago 5

Heading into the 2026 FIFA World Cup, one of the names to keep an eye on was that of Yan Diomande, who was set to be a key part of the Ivory Coast's offensive engine. While Diomande only has a single goal involvement to his name, with his assist against Curacao during the group stage, given his national team's slated appearance in the knockout stages, that could change.

But a World Cup debut wasn't the only talking point surrounding Diomande entering the Summer, as it was being constantly reported that he was the subject of interest from multiple teams around Europe, chief among them, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain. The Merseyside club was keen on bringing the Ivorian forward to Anfield as a replacement for the now-departed Mo Salah, who left the Reds at the expiration of his contract.

There was a key update in the race for Diomande's signature when Liverpool decided to splash some cash on Osasuna's Victor Munoz, who they brought in for €40m, which didn't deter them from putting in a further €100 million bid for the Ivorian, but it was subsequently rejected by RB Leipzig.

While there has been all of this interest from the Premier League giants, it appears that the back-to-back European champions may have more pull in the race for Diomande.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, the Parisians have been in serious talks with Diomande, with the extent of their conversations reaching the levels of a five-year deal to bring the Ivorian to the Parc des Princes in the coming season. The only thing to discuss at this point is a transfer fee that meets the German side's demands.

Looking at the previous attempts to sign Diomande from Liverpool, it appears that the Red Bull club could be looking for a price in the range of €120, which shouldn't be too much of an issue for the French outfit, given that they're set to clear house upfront, with Lee Kang-In, Goncalo Ramos, and Kolo Muani all working on some move out of Ligue 1.

For now, Diomande will look to help his national team progress through the round of 32 at the World Cup, with the Ivory Coast set to take on Norway on Tuesday afternoon, with kick-off slated for 3:00 p.m. EST.
