Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski breaks narrative on Colorado Buffaloes football legend Shedeur Sanders

For the next few months, the national media will relentlessly scrutinize Shedeur Sanders. Even though Cleveland is a relatively small media market, Sanders is currently the most fascinating story in the league.

The Colorado product free-falling in the draft was one thing, but now he's in the midst of a four-way starting quarterback battle.

The narrative around Sanders will be about whether or not he can somehow ascend to QB1 and how he might react if he doesn't. This questionable attitude allegedly was the catalyst for the 23-year-old slipping into the fifth round.

Brown's head coach, Kevin Stefanski, broke his silence on his rookie's temperament by providing an honest assessment.

While speaking to ESPN Cleveland, Stefanski broke down Sanders' early tenure in Cleveland. It was surprisingly overwhelmingly positive.

"Shedeur is a great kid," Stefanski said. "He's working like crazy, just like all the guys. They got to walk by my office as they come in, and Shedeur, just like all the rookies, come in early. He's working really, really hard. I like everything there is about Shedeur."

Coaches rarely speak negatively about a player currently on their team, but Stefanski clearly went out of his way to heap praise on Sanders. He endorsed his ability to compete at the next level while squashing any narratives about him having a God complex.

Sanders has had a rough month, to say the least, so to have Stefanski's public support could help restore some lost confidence.

Sanders is currently splitting third and fourth squad reps with Joe Flacco, but all signs are pointing to a fairly equal battle—at this point, he has to prove it on the field.
