Dakota Johnson Steps Out Amid Chris Martin Breakup News
Chris Martin is taking his newfound single status in stride.
The Coldplay frontman made his first public appearance since his breakup with Dakota Johnson was revealed, taking a casual stroll through New York City June 16.
During the excursion, Chris, 48, opted for darker tones as he paired a black T-shirt and pants with a dark blazer and aviator sunglasses. He was accompanied on his walk by his son Moses Martin, 19, whom he shares with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow. (The former couple are also parents to 21-year-old daughter Apple Martin.)
News of Chris’ breakup with Dakota, 35, first surfaced earlier this month, though neither of them has commented publicly on the split. The pair were first romantically linked in 2017 and were last photographed together in May as they made their way out of a yoga studio together.
In fact, the “Something Just Like This” singer remained supportive of his partner until the very end, even urging fans to see her new romantic comedy co-starring Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans.
“Thank you so much everybody,” he told spectators in the final moments of Coldplay’s June 1 concert in Stanford, California. “Be kind to yourself, be kind to each other. Don’t forget to see Materialists!”

And while Chris has been keeping his son close as he enters a new chapter, Dakota seems to have found support in a four-legged friend: her new rescue puppy, Tokyo.
“We rescued her on Saturday from the Santa Barbara pound,” Dakota said on the June 10 episode of Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast with her new pal in tow. “I didn't plan on it.”
And the new addition to Dakota’s household certainly made the most of her public debut as she sniffed around the audio-video equipment in the recording studio.
“She's a performer,” the actress joked while Tokyo inspected her high-tech surroundings. “Honestly, she has come alive on camera. She normally hides in the back of her crate. She's really timid. And now she's like, ‘Here I am.’”
