Chiefs urged to help Patrick Mahomes with key signing this offseason

The Kansas City Chiefs' main focus this offseason has been improving the defense, and free agency and the draft are proof of that.

But for some, the offense can't be forgotten either, with the receiver position looking a little thin.

Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Tyquan Thornton, Cyrus Allen, and Jalen Royals are Patrick Mahomes' weapons, but is that enough? Not likely.

So, could the Chiefs look to add a veteran to the mix?

Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon thinks so and has listed a couple of key names the franchise could look at.

“According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer (h/t Bleacher Report's Doric Sam), the Kansas City Chiefs haven't been interested in trading for A.J. Brown,” Gagnon writes. “However, they should look to add a receiver like Brown, Brandon Aiyuk, Tyreek Hill, or Stefon Diggs sooner rather than later.”

Will Chiefs add veteran WR?

They might, and it might be after June 1 or once training camp gets underway, and they realize more is needed.

The Chiefs have added cheap, veteran options in the last couple of seasons, like Juju Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and others, but a player like that won't raise the bar in 2026.

Hill is a possibility, but how healthy will he be in 2026? Aiyuk hasn't played in over a year, and Diggs does have some baggage, but was productive last season. All would likely command a decent salary, so that has to be factored in as well.

But it is clear the Chiefs need more help; the big question is whether they get it.
