There have already been plenty of impressive individual performances early in the 2026 WNBA season, but Kelsey Plum may have delivered the loudest statement yet on Saturday night. Facing her former team, the Las Vegas Aces, Plum erupted for 38 points and nine assists while leading the Los Angeles Sparks to a massive 101-95 road win at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas.
The veteran guard was nearly impossible to slow down from the opening tip. Plum finished 12-for-17 from the field, knocked down six of her seven attempts from three-point range and went a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line. She also added four rebounds in one of the most complete offensive games of her career. For the Sparks, the performance felt bigger than just another regular season win.

Any matchup between Plum and the Aces was always going to draw attention after her move to Los Angeles, but Saturday’s game had a completely different feel. Plum looked aggressive from the start and repeatedly answered every Las Vegas run with another big shot. The Sparks entered the game just 2-3 and badly needed a signature moment early in the season. Instead of shrinking under the pressure of facing one of the WNBA’s biggest championship contenders on the road, Plum completely took over the game.
Even more impressive was how efficient she remained while carrying such a massive offensive workload. The Sparks shot 55 percent from the field as a team and nearly 48 percent from beyond the arc, but Plum was clearly the engine driving everything offensively. Her chemistry with Cameron Brink and the rest of Los Angeles’ starting lineup also continued to stand out. Brink added 16 points and eight rebounds, while Erica Wheeler chipped in 10 points and six assists.

The Sparks suddenly look far more dangerous
Through six games, Plum is now averaging 24.6 points and 5.8 assists per game while shooting an absurd 56.4 percent from the field. Those numbers are not just elite for a guard. They are MVP-caliber production. Saturday’s performance also continued a trend that is becoming impossible to ignore. Plum has now scored at least 25 points in five of the Sparks’ first six games this season.
Meanwhile, the Aces received 24 points and 15 rebounds from A'ja Wilson and 23 points off the bench from Chennedy Carter, but Las Vegas struggled defensively throughout the night and could never fully contain Plum once she got rolling. If this game was supposed to be an early measuring stick for Los Angeles, the Sparks may have just proven they are much more dangerous than their record suggested.
