The Kansas City Chiefs generated big headlines a week ago when they landed Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker in free agency to become their workhorse running back.
They weren't done, though. A week later, they've signed a new RB to a contract.
On Monday, the Chiefs announced they've reached an agreement with Emari Demercado.

Demercado comes on board from the Arizona Cardinals, where he had spent his entire NFL career up to this point.
He was an undrafted player out of TCU who began his college career at Saddleback College, a JuCo in California.
Demercado played 14 games with the Cardinals over three seasons, and he was an explosive player.
He averaged 7.1 yards per carry in 2025 (44 runs for 312 yards). That's after he averaged 9.3 yards per run in 2024 (24 for 223).
In 2023, that number was 4.9 yards per carry, still above average (58 for 254).
He's known as a receiving back, and through three seasons, he has 50 catches for 324 yards.
Andy Reid will certainly find a way to make use of an explosive RB with good hands.
The Chiefs will likely still have Brashard Smith on the roster after a so-so rookie season, but Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt are gone.
Demercado is a solid addition to pair with Walker.
