Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes' baseball dreams get crushed by Royals ace pitcher

3 hours ago 1

Patrick Mahomes was once a Major League Baseball draft pick... a 37th-rounder, a round that doesn't even exist anymore.

He didn't wind up following in his father's MLB footsteps and has instead turned into one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mahomes is also a minority owner of the Kansas City Royals.

Recently on Kay Adams' NFL show, she hosted Royals ace left-hander Cole Ragans, and she asked how he thought Mahomes would do at the plate against him.

"I'm waiting for the day that (Mahomes and Travis Kelce) come over to take BP, but they haven't yet," Ragans said

Ragans was then asked how many hits Mahomes would get off him in 10 at bats.

"He hasn't swung a bat in a long time, so I'm gonna say zero," Ragans said.

Seems like the correct take.

For those who think Ragans is over the top here, recalibrate a bit: Hitting is hard!

One of the greatest athletes ever, Michael Jordan, proved that and never made it past Double-A.

Mahomes is a legend, but professional pitchers are a different beast.

Really, Mahomes would probably want to try and be a pitcher himself if he ever tried to pursue his baseball dreams.

But for now, Mahomes is just fine slinging passes all over the gridiron.
