The Kansas City Chiefs got off to a solid start in their season opener against the Denver Broncos, and it's exactly the kind of performance Chiefs Kingdom wanted to see.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was back in top form, Travis Kelce was pulling out tricks on the field and the Chiefs were scoring. The Chiefs pulled off a convincing win, 31-10, providing they're back and ready to rock.
But, it's not all perfect in the Chiefs' world. They have a "mystery" injury in their camp that's worth following.
Josh Simmons' injury remains a 'mystery' for the Kansas City Chiefs
Offensive tackle Josh Simmons is Mahomes' protector and an important part of this team. But, he's dealing with a back injury, and it's still an unknown.
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, there really aren't many details out there about Simmons' injury. Undrafted free agent Kahlil Benson has been doing a great job in his absence, but it would be ideal to get Simmons 100% healthy again.
"The Simmons injury remains a mystery," Fowler stated in a piece out on Wednesday for ESPN. "In late August, he underwent tests on his back. Part of the testing was to see whether a disc issue had flared up. Information has been scarce since then."
He added, "The Chiefs have treated this as if he's week-to-week. Meanwhile, they continue to rely on young players at several positions. Benson is the latest to shine."
Simmons has already been out for a lot of his NFL career, and to hear that he's week-to-week isn't great news for the Chiefs.
