Chelsea began their preseason preparations in earnest on Tuesday with a thrilling friendly against Western Sydney Wanderers.
Xabi Alonso's first match in charge of the Blues ended in a 10-goal thriller in which Joao Pedro scored a hat-trick.
The Premier League side trailed their A-League opponents three times before the Brazilian forward struck all three goals in the space of nine minutes to settle the contest.
Chelsea will now continue training Sydney before facing London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Accor Stadium on Saturday.

Chelsea vs. Western Sydney Wanderers score
New signing Dastan Satpayev scored after only six minutes before the Wanderers turned the game on its head through Anthony Pantazopoulos and Aydan Hammond. Dario Essugo buried a composed equaliser to ensure the scores were level at halftime.
The chaos continued after the hour mark, Dylan Scicluna restoring the hosts' lead before Jamie Gittens made it 3-3 just four minutes later, only for Awan Lual to score a fourth 12 minutes from time after Estevao's loose pass gifted possession near the Chelsea box.
It was then over to Joao Pedro for the late rescue act, the forward sending a reminder of his quality to Carlo Ancelotti — who overlooked him for Brazil's World Cup squad — by scoring three times between the 80th and 89th minutes.
