Chelsea midfielder set for crucial contract talks amid interest from Saudi Arabia

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo is all set for crucial contract talks with the club despite having a contract that runs until 2031.

Caicedo is in the middle of a stellar season for Chelsea, having secured the club's Player of the Season award, as well as the club's Players' Player of the Season award.

And according to the Telegraph, the club is eager to reward his performance with a new contract that comes with a 20% pay hike.

Interestingly, the Ecuadorian midfielder is currently on a contract that runs until 2031, so there shouldn’t be any hurry to negotiate a new contract.

However, Caicedo’s performances this season have attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League, and Chelsea will be looking to fend off any interest for the player.

Therefore, it is understandable that Chelsea want to tie Caicedo down to an even longer contract at the club.

Caicedo’s story at Chelsea so far

Chelsea signed Caicedo from Brighton in 2023 for an incredible £115m and he has come on by leaps and bounds since joining the Stamford Bridge side.

This season, he has played in a number of positions for the Blues, from defensive midfielder to right back and impressed the fans with his work ethic and professionalism.

The 23-year-old’s performances are a key reason why Chelsea find themselves in the fifth spot in the Premier League table, thus guaranteeing them automatic qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Therefore, it is fitting that Caicedo is one of the players who could boost his salary by roughly 20 per cent if the club qualify for the Champions League.

Caicedo has played a crucial role in Chelsea’s quest to secure Champions League football next season, and he deserves every ounce of the hike that Chelsea plan to give him.
