Chaos ensues backstage on WWE SmackDown; Nick Aldis forced to intervene

SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis always has his hands full with the WWE stars on his roster. Not only does he have to deal with the volatility of Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes, but he must deal with other unpredictable situations every week.

The chaos in the women's tag team division put his resolve to the test this week as several squads posited for a coveted shot at Kairi Sane and Asuka backstage on SmackDown.

With the ongoing tension among several teams, Aldis decided to book an eight-woman tag team contest for next week's SmackDown.

The booking was so the women could all get their issues out ahead of a fatal four-way title match on RAW on Netflix's first-anniversary show on January 5.

The big payoff for WWE's Women's Tag Team division

Several duos from RAW and SmackDown feel entitled to a shot at the Kabuki Warriors' tag team titles.

Much of the feud stems from how WWE built the teams for the latest edition of WarGames. AJ Lee forced Becky Lynch to tap out, so the other eight women didn't factor into the decision.

Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss are the former champions and want a rematch to regain the gold. Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY have clashed with the Kabuki Warriors since early fall.

Ripley defeated Asuka on RAW. Legend defeated Bliss on last week's SmackDown but fell to Flair this week despite controlling most of the action. Both Bliss and SKY have recent victories over Sane.

After her victory over Lash this week, The Queen and Bliss felt that the win got them back on track for a title shot. Ripley and SKY have momentum and fan backing on their side.

Legend and Jax have size and intimidation on their side. Having all four teams square off in a single match can protect many top performers while also potentially crowning new champions.

The singles titleholders on both RAW and SmackDown need viable challengers since most are tied up chasing the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.

With all the egos involved, it could also lead to one team breaking up. Flair and Bliss weren't going to be together for the long haul.

When one or more teams fall short, it could shift dynamics as the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania seasons approach.
