Late actor Chadwick Boseman will be posthumously awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame star. Boseman will be honored in a ceremony scheduled for November 20 at the famed sidewalk in Los Angeles. The star will be awarded in the Motion Pictures category. Chadwick Boseman’s wife, Simone Ledward-Boseman, will receive the award on behalf of the late actor.

The Black Panther director, Ryan Coogler, and Chadwick Boseman's co-star from Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Viola Davis, will be speaking at the honoring ceremony. The president and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Steve Nissen, will serve as the event's emcee.

In Boseman's honor, the 2828th star will be placed at 6904 Hollywood Boulevard. As per Billboard, the ceremony will be livestreamed on WalkOfFame.com. The official Hollywood Walk of Fame page also provides information about the upcoming event.

"Actor Chadwick Boseman will be honored posthumously with the 2,828th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, November 20th, at 11:30 am PT at 6904 Hollywood Boulevard. Boseman will receive his posthumous star in the category of Motion Pictures," the website read.

The renowned Walk of Fame is administered by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The organization has hosted the star awarding ceremony for decades. The Hollywood Walk of Fame producer, Ana Martinez, acknowledged Chadwick Boseman's impact on the industry. As per the statement shared by Billboard, she said:

"The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is deeply honored to celebrate Chadwick Boseman’s extraordinary legacy with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His powerful performances and enduring impact both on and off screen continue to inspire generations around the world."

In August 2020, Boseman died of colon cancer at the age of 43 after battling with it for four years. He is survived by his wife, Simone Ledward-Boseman, whom he married months before his death. Boseman's wife will now accept the Walk of Fame star on his behalf.

Boseman gave his final performance in Netflix's film, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. For his role in the movie, he was honored with a Golden Globe Award in 2021. Simone Ledward-Boseman accepted the award on behalf of her late husband. In a heartfelt speech, she said,

"He would thank god, he would thank his parents, he would thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifices, he would thank his incredible team... He would say something beautiful, something inspiring, something that would amplify that little voice inside of all of us that tells you you can, that tells you to keep going, that calls you back to what you are meant to be doing at this moment in history."

Ahead of the release of Black Panther's sequel, Boseman's wife gave an interview to ABC in 2023. She talked about how, after Black Panther, the actor became a global superstar and inspired many young people.


Chadwick Boseman's role in 42 is considered his breakout performance. However, the actor gained global recognition for playing T’Challa in the MCU's Captain America: Civil War. He later appeared in Marvel's Black Panther, which entirely focused on T’Challa's character. The movie received seven Academy Award nominations.
