The Boston Celtics made a thought-provoking roster move on Thursday.

The Celtics reportedly signed a history-making 6-foot-8 guard (he’s the first player in NBA history to attempt 15 threes and miss all of them) to assist Jaylen Brown.

“Texas Legends forward Dalano Banton has signed a 10-day contract with the Boston Celtics, marking his second NBA call-up of the 2025–26 season,” the Legends stated. “Banton was most recently called up by the Los Angeles Clippers.”

Banton isn’t a stranger to the Celtics' organization. Banton signed a two-way deal with Boston in 2023 and appeared in 24 contests with the storied Eastern Conference organization.

The Nebraska product contributed 2.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game with the Celtics, shooting 37.3% from the field and 12.5% from beyond the arc.

Unfortunately for Banton, the Celtics traded him to the Portland Trail Blazers midway through the 2023-24 campaign, forcing him to miss out on an opportunity to win a championship (the Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals).

For his career, Banton is averaging 6.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game, shooting 40.3% from the field and 30.4% from beyond the arc.

Although the 26-year-old won’t be a game-changer for the Celtics, he could prove to be a sneaky-good addition if he plays his cards right this time around.
