Celtics reportedly make decision on whether Boston will blow up it's roster

After ending their season in a way many would consider disappointing, the Boston Celtics have plenty of decisions to make regarding their current roster.

They would enter next season as the most expensive team in league history, with 5 players expecting over $30 million annually.

With Jayson Tatum likely to miss the majority, if not all of next season, fans around the world are questioning what the roster and direction will look for the 2025-2026 campaign.

Many people expect general manager Brad Stevens to navigate his way out of another tough situation and allow the team to continue to compete. Names like D’Angelo Russell, Jabari Smith Jr., and even Giannis Antetokounmpo have been involved in trade talks with the Celtics.

However, Brett Siegel at Clutch Points doesn’t expect the Celtics to make any massive moves. He states that Jrue Holiday's performance is something that you can not replicate, and a guy like Derrick White, who has developed his own voice, is an invaluable member of the organization -- implying that both are safe from the trade block.

A name he does mention as the most likely to be on the move is Kristaps Porzingis.

There is no doubt that Porzingis's contribution to the team is amazing, but he consistently battles injuries and will be up for a new contract after next season.

In the case of most teams, a 7’3 floor-stretching rim-protector would be ideal to have on your roster. The question is, what are the Celtics’ plans with him?

It will be interesting to see what direction the franchise chooses to head in. They currently have the longest active NBA playoff appearance streak at 11 seasons, from 2015 to 2025. Are they willing to give up their reputation for a chance to completely restructure, or will they use the Disabled Players Exception on Jayson Tatum and try to replicate their championship team from a year ago?
