Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood and his wife, Ariela, announced they are expecting their first child—a baby girl—due in spring 2026.

The couple, who tied the knot in July, shared the joyful news via an Instagram post featuring multiple slides, including one of their dog Luca surrounded by pink confetti on the floor.

Ariela captioned the post:

"The sweetest blessing yet - baby Sherwood coming in the spring !!"

Kiefer Sherwood and his wife, Ariela, exchanged vows on July 26 during an outdoor ceremony held in the Cherub Garden at Stonepine Estate, located in Carmel Valley, California.

Kiefer Sherwood reveals Ariela's dog was one of the biggest early challenges in their relationship

Sherwood shared that his wife Ariela’s dog, Luca, posed one of the biggest early challenges in their relationship due to his severe dog allergies.

In the Vancouver Canucks’ “Going Home” offseason video series episode featuring Sherwood, released in September 2025, he opened up about growing up allergic to dogs and about initially struggling when he met Luca.

“At the beginning of our relationship, I was like, ‘it's going to be me or the dog’ because my allergies were so bad when I was around him,” he recalled with a laugh. “It's funny how things come to be, because now he's like a kid, and he's got so much personality, and I wouldn't have it any other way,” Sherwood added.

Sherwood has been in strong form early in the season, leading the team with 10 goals through 17 games. Meanwhile, the Canucks hold an 8-8-1 record (17 points) and sit 5th in the Pacific Division.
