The Tennessee Titans will get their first official look at rookie quarterback Cam Ward tonight when they square off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Cam Ward Steps Into the Spotlight for NFL Debut
Ward, 23, became the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after wrapping up a standout college career at the University of Miami. His football journey began at Incarnate Word before transferring to Washington State and eventually finishing at Miami.
The 6-foot-2, 219-pound quarterback had a decorated final season, winning both the Davey O’Brien and Manning Awards. He was also named ACC Player of the Year and earned consensus All-American honors. Ward guided the Hurricanes to a 10-win season, throwing for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions.

He enters his first NFL season ahead of Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle on the depth chart. Tennessee’s offense also features running back Tony Pollard, with Tyler Lockett, Calvin Ridley, and Van Jefferson as his primary receiving options.
The Titans are looking to bounce back after a rough 3-14 campaign in head coach Brian Callahan’s debut season. Their wins last year came against Miami, New England, and Houston.
Tennessee will open the regular season on the road against the Denver Broncos in Week 1 before hosting the Los Angeles Rams on September 14.
