During the Chicago Bears' Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Caleb Williams went down with a non-contact injury that sparked some significant concerns.
The initial post-game report was that it was a hamstring injury, which was a sigh of relief, as it wasn't an Achilles injury, which it might've seemed like initially. But on Monday morning, the latest update came out, and it was a very positive one.
According to Tom Pelissero of The Ringer, the Bears' quarterback's hamstring injury isn't as serious as it seemed. Williams might even play in Week 3. This update is a sign that the Bears' season, which seemed like it was over after Sunday's loss, is back on.
Bears' season is back on after positive Caleb Williams injury update
"Bears QB Caleb Williams avoided any major injury to his hamstring Sunday, tests confirmed today - and the team isn't even ruling him out for next Monday's game against the Eagles, sources tell @ringer @netflixsports. A massive sigh of relief in Chicago," Pelissero reports.
This report from Pelissero is a massive windfall for the Bears. Compared to the initial fears, which could've had Williams out for a long time, he might not even miss any time.
It wouldn't be a surprise if he did wind up missing Week 3's matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, out of precaution to keep him healthy for the long-haul.
But what this report from Pelissero should make clear is that the Bears avoided disaster and what could've been a season-ending issue with Williams' injury.

If Williams were out for an extended period of time, they would've had to rely on Tyson Bagent to keep the season alive.
While the Bears have expressed belief in Bagent, he's a big drop-off from Williams. If the Bears had to rely on Bagent for a long part of the season, it wouldn't be a surprise if their playoff chances took a huge hit.
Fortunately, this report from Pelissero is a huge sigh of relief for the Bears and Williams. His hamstring injury isn't as severe as it might've seemed, and he has a chance of suiting up in Week 3.
But even if he's out for that Week 3 matchup, Williams' absence is not looking likely to be for long. It's a major sigh of relief for the Bears, as this update has kept the 2026 season for the Bears alive.
