For those who are wondering if Caitlin Clark's friendship with Sophie Cunningham is still going strong, they need to look no further than the Instagram story that CC posted on New Year's Eve.
Just before 2025 transitioned into 2026, Clark was apparently watching a replay of an Indiana Fever game in which Cunningham was giving the post-game interview. Cunningham was either flustered or out of breath as she couldn't quite get an old saying right. Like a true friend, Clark shared the clip of Cunningham's blunder and doubled down on the mistake in the caption.
"I love a fresh of breath air," Clark wrote in the caption.

Credit: Clark/IGIn less than a year of playing alongside each other in Indiana, Clark and Cunningham have developed a strong bond on and off the court. Clearly, they have gotten to the point where publicly calling out each other's missteps has become a sisterly act.
Cunningham became a trending topic this past season after she came to the defense of Clark in a messy situation involving the Connecticut Sun. During a Fever-Sun game last June, Connecticut's Jacy Sheldon poked Clark in the eye. While Cunningham did not play a role in the scrum that followed, she made her presence felt later in the game when she grabbed Sheldon as the Sun guard was going for a layup.
After this incident, the bond between the two Fever backcourt stalwarts grew even deeper. Most recently, Cunningham and Lexie Hull appeared as guest caddies for Clark when the two-time All-Star particpated in the 2025 edition of The Annika golfing event.
"I'll probably be pulling for the Patriots:" Caitlin Clark professes admiration for Drake Maye in front of Travis Kelce
Clark, of course, is fearless in her own right. Case in point: When she made her latest appearance on the "New Heights" podcast, she expressed her support for a certain NFL team as a key cog of the Kansas City Chiefs looked on with not-so-subtle disbelief.
"Honestly, I’m a Drake Maye fan. I think he’s been incredible and I think the Patriots are," Clark said. "I’ll probably be pulling for the Patriots [to win the Super Bowl]."Unsurprisingly, podcast co-host Travis Kelce did not look so thrilled as Clark said these words. While Clark has been a longtime fan of the Chiefs, it appears that her sports mind projects another team to win it all this season.
