Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles had no major statements to make after the conclusion of Day 1 of rookie minicamp.
Instead, Bowles is taking his time before handing out sweeping conclusions while simultaneously giving some time to the rookies to adjust to the league.
"I think it's a little early for that. I think everybody is attentive right now because everybody is bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and everything is new. We'll see when the vets come in and it gets to be an everyday grind how they pick up things and how they treat it from day to day," Bowles affirmed.
Another obvious topic was UDFA signed Shilo Sanders' performance. Bowles didn't have flowery praise for Sanders, nor did he raise any red flags.
"Like the rest of the safeties, he's very intelligent, he's very loud. You can hear him today, making calls and everything, so he has a good grasp of things Day 1. There was about three or four of them that did. He was one of them, but you have to make plays in pads. That's what it comes down to – knowing what to do and then doing it consistently and constantly getting better every day," Bowles added.
This curt nod of approval from the Buccs' head coach should be enough to push Deion Sanders's son to strive for a spot on the roster, and possibly a starting role, given he does all the right things before the veterans step in.
Practicing against the veterans would ultimately decide the opinion Bowles would have of jersey No. 28.
