Bucs $41 million former Pro Bowler predicted to depart Tampa Bay for Bills

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers must make a decision on wide receiver Mike Evans' future this offseason.

Evans is a franchise legend, but the 32-year-old played in just eight games in 2025 due to a collarbone injury, tallying 30 receptions for 368 yards and three touchdowns.

With Evans set to hit free agency this offseason, the Bucs will have to decide whether to re-sign the veteran or let him walk. Pro Football Focus's Mason Cameron believes the best scenario is Evans leaving Tampa Bay and signing with the Buffalo Bills.

Here is what Cameron had to say about Evans' potential fit in Buffalo:

"The Bills' lack of quality depth at outside receiver limited their offensive output, particularly when injuries mounted late in the year. Add in their limited capability to stretch the field vertically – recording the sixth fewest receptions on throws of 20 or more yards – and Evans profiles as a strong upgrade to Josh Allen’s core of weapons."

Despite a rough 2025 campaign, Evans is still capable of being an impactful playmaker.

The Texas A&M product tallied 11 straight 1,000-yard seasons from when he entered the league in 2014 to 2024. Despite the injury this year, Evans was still a solid contributor in Tampa Bay's offense when on the field.

Buffalo desperately needs a No. 1 receiving option on the perimeter for quarterback Josh Allen. Though Evans' best days are likely behind him, the six-time Pro Bowler would still be a viable receiving option for Allen and an elite red zone threat.

Additionally, Evans shouldn't cost too much to sign in free agency. Spotrac projects the former top-10 pick will land a short-term deal worth $13 million annually.

The Bills are slated to be nearly $14 million under the cap this offseason, but general manager Brandon Beane can create some cap space by restructuring contracts and making cuts.

If Buffalo can find enough money to sign Evans, it's a no-brainer. Allen needs as many weapons as possible, and Evans would be a savvy target for the MVP quarterback.
