Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young suffered an ankle injury during their Week 7 victory over the Jets.
Young's ankle was twisted on a sack late in the third quarter. Shortly after, Young was ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Before this injury, Young was 15-for-25 passing, with 138 passing yards and a passing touchdown.

Will Bryce Young miss games due to his ankle injury?
While the X-rays on Young's ankle came back negative, he has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain.
Due to this specific type of injury, reports indicate that Young will most likely miss Week 8.

— NFL (@NFL) October 20, 2025High-ankle sprains usually sideline players for 2-to-4 weeks, but the Panthers seem optimistic that Young will only miss one game.
How does this injury affect Bryce Young's fantasy value?
To keep it simple, this does not hurt managers all that much. No one was starting Young every single week, or at least they shouldn't have been.
Young is strictly a streaming QB option that can be good for fantasy football in the right matchups. Other than that, he's just been too inconsistent for an every-week starter.
If Young were to play in Week 8, his matchup would be against the Bills. Buffalo has allowed just 15.9 fantasy points per game to opposing QBs.
Should I pick up Andy Dalton?
With Young expected to miss Week 8, Andy Dalton will step in as the starter. This will be Dalton's first start since Week 7 of the 2024 season.
Dalton started five games in 2024 when Young was benched for poor play; here is what those starts entailed.
Game | OPP | FAN PTS | POSRK |
Week 3 | @LV | 24.6 | 8 |
Week 4 | CIN | 16.7 | 12 |
Week 5 | @CHI | 4.7 | 28 |
Week 6 | ATL | 16.9 | 17 |
Week 7 | @WAS | 2.0 | 35 |
As you can see, there was one great performance against the Raiders, two solid games, and two poor games.
You can't confidently start Dalton against Buffalo in one-QB leagues. The matchup would need to be much more favorable for him to be a viable option in your fantasy lineup.
Panthers Week 8 fantasy outlook vs. Bills with Dalton
During Dalton's starts from Weeks 3 to 7 in 2024, he was able to support a WR10 overall with Diontae Johnson.
Johnson was the WR6 overall in Week 3 against the Raiders, which was Dalton's best game from last season.
Dalton starting does not affect any decisions managers would be making. Even with Young healthy, the only pass-catching option you should have been starting was Tetairoa McMillan, and maybe Xavier Legette when he wasn't injured.
Regarding the TE position, you can start Tommy Tremble or Ja'Tavion Sanders if you truly want to. But do so with extreme caution, as neither has been consistent.
You play both Chuba Hubbard and Rico Dowdle in Week 8 regardless of who is at QB. Buffalo has been allowing the sixth-most fantasy points per game to opposing RBs.
