Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani is finally getting on a plane to Toronto

Back when Shohei Ohtani was a free agent after the 2023 season, a report came out about the two-way superstar who was departing the Angels in free agency.

The report said, more or less, that Ohtani was on a plane to Toronto. The implication was that he was en route to sign with the Toronto Blue Jays.

That never came to fruition, though. Ohtani ended up staying in Los Angeles and signing with the Dodgers.

Now, he'll finally get to fly to Toronto. The Dodgers will be heading there as part of the World Series against the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays surely wish they could've landed Ohtani.

In 2024, only hitting as he recovered from Tommy John surgery, Ohtani put up the first 50-50 season (HR-SB) in MLB history.

And now in 2025, he's been magnificent again, including in his return to the mound.

In the sweep-clinching Game 4 of the NLCS, Ohtani started on the hill. He went six shutout innings with 10 strikeouts. And at the plate he blasted three home runs. It was probably the greatest baseball game ever played.

That's who the Blue Jays will have to contend with. Ohtani leads off, has immense power, has great speed and oh yeah, at some point, he'll take the mound.

The Dodgers are the defending world champions.

The Blue Jays haven't been to the World Series since 1993 (which they won).

It's a clash of all sorts of things, but Ohtani will be at the center of it. He's the most talented player to ever step on a baseball field, and he's got his latest stage, one that includes Toronto.
