AEW commentator Bryan Danielson announced the heartbreaking news on this week's Dynamite episode about a popular star suffering a major injury. Following that, her replacement in an upcoming high-stakes match was unveiled in an intriguing segment.
The star in question is Penelope Ford. On the October 29 edition of AEW Fright Night Dynamite, after Bryan Danielson made the announcement, Ford appeared in an arm sling alongside her ally, Megan Bayne, in a backstage interview with Tony Schiavone. He announced that Ford sustained an injury during her match, teaming with Bayne against Tay Melo and Anna Jay last week on Dynamite.
It was the first round in the AEW Women's World Tag Team title tournament. She got hurt while executing a moonsault on the outside of the ring and injured her arm in the process. The women's division star confirmed the same and revealed that she had suffered a torn UCL, putting her out of action indefinitely.
This left Megan Bayne without a partner to continue forward in the tournament, and she asked for a replacement to step up. Right then, Marina Shafir walked up to her with Jon Moxley and answered the call. The duo made their new alliance official with a fist bump.

The dynamics of the AEW Women's World Tag Team title picture have drastically changed with two powerhouses like Shafir and Bayne coming together as a unit. On the other hand, this week's edition of Dynamite also saw an explosive match in the tournament's opening round. The Sisters of Sin, Julia Hart and Skye Blue, defeated Queen Aminata and Jamie Hayter, with some interference from their ally, Thekla, to advance further in the tournament.
The new team of Megan Bayne and Marina Shafir will square off in the next round against the winners of the Toni Storm & Mina Shirakawa vs. Alex Windsor & Riho. So, it will be interesting to see how this partnership fairs out between two of the strongest All Elite competitors.
