Browns trade rumor with No. 6 pick is big news for NFL Draft

During the 2025 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns pulled off a stunning trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars involving the No. 2 pick, in which the Browns moved down the board, picking up a second-rounder and a 2026 first-rounder for Travis Hunter.

It was a massive shake-up for the draft, and now, ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft, there are once again some questions about the Browns' first pick in the draft, this time at No. 6 overall.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Browns are reportedly receiving trade inquiries for the No. 6 pick, and are open to trading this selection as well.

Browns get trade interest in No. 6 pick, open to deal

"One year later, the Browns are already taking calls about the No. 6 pick, and sources said they're open to moving it," Schefter reports.

Cleveland already owns nine picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, including the No. 6 and 24 picks in the first round. With a trade down, the Browns would be able to add a lot more capital, potentially in the better class in 2027.

Trading out of the sixth pick, the Browns would likely miss out on a few players they would have interest in. Fortunately, their needs are very clear, and they should be able to find someone even in a trade down.

At offensive tackle, Monroe Freeling and Kadyn Proctor should be available if they trade down. Francis Mauigoa, Spencer Fano, and Olaivavega Ioane might also be in play for Cleveland in a trade-down, depending on how far they fall.

At wide receiver, Carnell Tate, Jordyn Tyson, or Makai Lemon could all be in play if they don't trade down too far. And if they wait on WR, Denzel Boston, KC Concepcion, or one of the Round 2 options like Chris Bell or Zachariah Branch should be available.

The Browns can trade down in the first round of the draft, pick up extra capital in 2026 or even 2027, and still land multiple players they need on offense and defense in the draft.

Schefter is reporting the Browns are fielding trade calls for the sixth pick already, and a trade-down is very much in play. The Dallas Cowboys are a team to watch, as they might get aggressive in a trade-up for a top defensive player depending on how the board falls.
