The Cleveland Browns modified superstar edge rusher Myles Garrett's contract on March 25, and that has led many to believe the team could be willing to deal the future Hall of Famer.
An NFL executive told Mike Sando of The Athletic that he believes the Browns are planning to trade Garrett after they changed the language in his contract on when he will receive his option bonuses each year.
"The report of the option bonus date moving later for Myles Garrett makes me think Cleveland is planning on trading him," an exec said to Sando.
Trading Garrett would signal a full-scale rebuild in Cleveland. The 30-year-old is arguably the best player in football, who set an NFL record with 23 sacks in 2025.
If the Browns do end up dealing Garrett, the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, and Los Angeles Rams come to mind as possible landing spots.
All four teams are in need of edge rusher help and have the assets to facilitate a deal with the Browns.
Dallas has two first-round picks in April's draft and a ton of future capital due to the Micah Parsons trade with the Green Bay Packers last August.
Chicago has four picks in the top-100 of the draft, and with quarterback Caleb Williams on his tackle deal, the Bears should be looking to swing for the fences on the quarterback acquisition front.
Philadelphia may be in a position to pull off a blockbuster trade in the future if they decide to move on from wide receiver A.J Brown after June 1. The Eagles also just lost edge rusher Jaelan Phillips to the Carolina Panthers, so Nick Sirianni's squad needs a game-changing pass rusher.
Los Angeles has already made a massive defensive trade this offseason by acquiring cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs, but general manager Les Snead looks to be going all-in for a Super Bowl in 2026, which could be quarterback Matthew Stafford's final season.
Garrett will likely remain with the Browns in 2026, but the possibility of him getting traded in the next few years is higher than one would expect.
