Browns QB Deshaun Watson gives critics more to talk about with painful interception

After spending most of his time with the Cleveland Browns either being injured or under suspension, Deshaun Watson finally took the field as the team's starting quarterback on Sunday in the matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

But, it wasn't pretty what happened on the field. During the Browns' very first drive, Watson threw a nasty interception that should give critics lots to talk about over the next few days. Plus, there's the little fact that the Browns lost that game with a massive 34-10 final score.

Deshaun Watson's Rough Return Won't Silence His Critics

Watson was booed by the Browns' fanbase during the preseason, and unfortunately, his showing in this game won't give them much to cheer about. But, that's not to say he isn't a talented quarterback. He certainly has potential. But, this was a messy introduction to the 2026-27 season, for sure.

Followers were quick to comment about the interception.

"How do you not see the guy standing right in front of you?" one asked.

"Hate to see it. Couldn’t have happened to a better guy," another said.

"He did this all off season but Todd in all his infinite idiocy said yup 'he's our guy,'" one more added.

For the game, Watson completed 16 of 22 passes for 205 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also had one fumble. Frankly, the numbers weren't nearly as bad as they feel. Those are okay numbers, not horrible, but since the loss was so big, it just felt like a horrible performance. Now, the Browns will have to regroup and figure out how to move ahead in Week 2.
