After a lot of anticipation for his first start in the purple and gold, Kyler Murray was quickly knocked out of his team's opener with what appears to be a head injury.

The Minnesota Vikings quarterback was subject to a brutal shoulder-to-helmet hit despite being down on the turf sliding for some positive yardage. He remained down after the hit, and his Vikings teammates instantly called for the training staff to come out.

Kyler Murray injury update

On the Vikings' second possession of the game, Murray scrambled out of the pocket in an attempt to gain some positive yardage. The quarterback was able to accumulate two yards before Green Bay's Javon Bullard lowered his shoulder to hit Murray.

Murray's helmet instantly came off, and the quarterback looked rattled. Originally, the broadcast thought Minnesota's new starting quarterback was holding his knee, but his hands may have been subject to a fencing response.

According to NFL RedZone's Scott Hanson, Murray was evaluated for a concussion after exiting the game. More updates will follow when news develops.
