Browns predicted to make left-field decision on Colorado Buffaloes football legend Shedeur Sanders

The Cleveland Browns are over 100 days away from their first game of the NFL regular season, but their unique four-way quarterback battle is one of the most prominent talking points in sports media.

It's an idea plenty of football fanatics have posed throughout the years: if the quarterback is unequivocally the most critical position in the sport, why doesn't a team load up on them in the hopes one pans out?

One of Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, or Shedeur Sanders will open the campaign under center for Kevin Stefanski's squad, but one of them has to win this supposedly "open" competition.

Pickett has the head start by beginning OTAs with the starters, but a prominent ESPN analyst thinks another slinger has the inside track to winning the job.

While on "Get Up," former NFL corner Domonique Foxworth predicted Shedeur Sanders would enter September as the club's QB1.

"Shedeur Sanders will be the starting quarterback for the Browns entering the season," Foxworth said. "I think that they want to know what they have in either Shedeur or Gabriel before the season is over, because there is a chance they will be at the top of a good quarterback draft next season. They'll move quickly to getting those guys on the field to see what kind of players they'll be".

According to numerous Browns beat writers, Sanders is currently splitting the third and fourth team reps with Joe Flacco, but that situation seems fluid and will change based on performance.

If the former Buffaloes slinger can put together an impressive summer, it makes sense for the offensive staff to default to the option with the most obvious upside—Sanders could easily be that guy.
